Would You Try Gamified Fitness?

The 21st century truly is the digital age and there’s an app for absolutely everything these days… and the wonderful world of health and fitness is certainly no exception to this rule.
While the likes of health monitors, meal plan apps and fitness trackers are ten a penny these days, it seems that there’s a new trend for digital exercise just coming to the fore and that’s gamified fitness - or exergaming, as it’s also known.
Of course, fitness videos and the likes of dance mats have been around a while but, with the advent of AI and virtual reality, gamified exercise is perhaps the logical next step.
In fact, a recent HTF Market Report revealed that the VR fitness game market will grow at a compound annual rate of 39 per cent between 2023 and 2029, so it seems that you can expect to hear more about exergaming as time goes on.
But what exactly is exergaming and how can you join in?
Well, the aim of gamified fitness is to help motivate you to get more exercise through the use of a points system that keeps you focused on your goals and drives you to outperform yourself each time you train.
One of the hardest parts about staying motivated for the gym and exercise is that it inevitably takes time for you to see the changes you’re looking for… and this is often why people give up and go home.
But with gamification, because you’re rewarded in a different way at the outset, it may well help you to stick with your new exercise regime, ensuring that you reach your goals instead of quitting and giving up.
Once training and exercise becomes part of your daily routine, it’s far easier to stick with it, but it can be tricky to get to this point. So it will certainly be interesting to see if gaming can help people stick to their goals and get where they want to be.
